Urban Decay Naked Basics

Simple and natural, two words to best describe this palette! 6 beautiful colours, mainly mattes, that can be made into an everyday natural look or a smokier night look.  Each colour can double up with other uses to.

Venus- a light white shimmer, use in the corner of your eye to make your eyes pop, under the eyebrow/ on the brow bone to lift and illuminate, or can be used as a highlight on cheek bones or cupids bow.

Foxy- yellow based beige, with it being matte its a very natural shade that can be used for a no makeup makeup look.

W.O.S- a light pink matte, again very natural as it is so light and a little on the transparent side. Would be nice to use as a base for a pink glitter.

Naked 2- a light, matte, easy to blend, brown. Can be used all over and blended into crease for a light, beginners smokey look. Or if you have light eyebrows, this can be used to fill them in.

Faint- a darker, matte, "chocolate" brown, easy to blend in the crease, or use as a natural look eyeliner, and again can be used as an eyebrow fill if you have darker eyebrows or if you want them to look a bit more statement. If you watch the new series of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, you may have noticed Kim, Kourtney and Kris (occasionally but not often Khloe) have been wearing an all over smokey dark brown eye with heavy eyeliner and lots of bronzer, I feel this shade would replicate their eye makeup nicely, if applied heavily.

Crave- a matte dark black, very pigmented, of course can be used to create a smokey eye, also lovely as an eyeliner, and stays especially well on tight lines.

I have been wearing to school either foxy or w.o.s over my entire lid, naked 2 in the outer corner, faint in the crease and then venus in the inner corner. If it's a non school day I will line my upper and the outer part or my lower tight line with crave, using an eyeliner brush.

Have you tried the naked basics palette? How do you like to wear it?

  2. woah lashs lady! if i could get that sort of flared out look, i'd be in heaven.
i have to say, that the naked palettes are hyped up for a reason and this one is just that 'basic' but necessary. everyone needs a small collection of mattes in my opinion. so useful for highlighting and just toning down sparkly shades too.
